Macon Parks and Recreation is committed to providing safe and clean natural areas, recreational amenities, and other public spaces and to offer an environment that will promote wellness and enrich the quality of life for all the people of the community for current and future generations.

HOURS: Parks are open to the public for use only during daylight hours.

The Macon Parks and Recreation Department offers a wide variety of facilities and activities for your enjoyment. These facilities include several neighborhood parks, ball fields, tennis courts, playgrounds, camping facilities, and city lakes.

PARKS & SHELTER HOUSES

Rustic Park – The neighborhood park is located at the corner of Rustic Drive and Cardinal Street.  This beautiful park offers many amenities such as:

  •      Playground equipment – Merry-go-round, swings and a play structure
  •      Benches
  •      Basketball court
  •      Racquet Ball court
  •      Shelter house with picnic tables
  •      Off-street parking

Blees Park – This park in located next to the historic Round House, at 1402 South Missouri Street and the Don Schelle Ballfield Complex. 

  •      Play structure
  •      Monkey bars
  •      Slide
  •      Small fishing pond with handicap accessible dock (NO swimming)

Stephens Park – Located on Pearl Street, this beautifully wooded park offers lots of shade for a peaceful afternoon.

  •      Large shelter house with picnic tables
  •      BBQ pit
  •      Playground equipment

Jackson Street Park – This is Macon’s largest park with the most amenities.  Located on Jackson Street, this park is accessible to many residents.

  •      Playground equipment – large play structure, merry-go-round, swings, balance beam, horses
  •      Benches
  •      Basketball court
  •      Wading pool
  •      2 shelter houses with picnic tables
  •      Restrooms
  •      BBQ pit
  •      Off-street parking

Rubey Street Park – Located on the south end of Macon on South Rubey Street, this park has lots of entertainment for everyone to enjoy.

  •      Playground equipment – play structure, swings, slide
  •      Benches
  •      Basketball court
  •      Wading Pool
  •      Shelter house
  •      Restrooms
  •      BBQ pit

Greenbriar Park – This park is located in the Englewood area at the corner of Hawthorne Drive and Overbrook Drive. 

  •      Playground equipment – play structure, swings, merry-go-round
  •      Basketball court
  •      Benches

Memorial Park – Located on Pearl Street across from Oakwood Cemetery.  Memorial to our fallen soldiers.

Macon Lake Park – This park, with its beautiful setting, extends the entire east shoreline of the lake. This serene 240-acre area is located at the Northeast edge of the City. The lake provides the community a reservoir for fishing, boating, and picnicking.

  •      Camping - only permitted on Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day and managed through Macon Municipal Utilities, please call 660-385-3173 for reservations.

Skateboard Park – For your enjoyment, the skate park is located at the corner of N. Rutherford Street and Butler Street.  Skate park hours are 8:00 am to Dusk and is closed during inclement weather.    We offer several features including:

  •      Skate boards and inline skates are permitted
  •      Skate Park is not supervised
  •      Personal protective gear is required
  •      No alcohol or Tobacco permitted
  •      No food or drink permitted
  •      Rails
  •      Ramps
  •      Quarter Pipe

Tennis Courts – Macon offers 3 tennis courts at two different locations in Macon for your enjoyment.

  •      2 courts located in front of Blees Macon County Historical Society Museum
  •      1 court located at 1203 Noll Drive, by the Macon Municipal Pool

Don Schelle Ballfield Complex – Located in Blees Park at the south end of Macon, next to the Round House and Long Branch Area YMCA.  This facility is managed by the YMCA.  Please call 660-385-1818 for information or to reserve the fields.
